Viaggio in Sardegna... Little Chris and party dress for a girl.

I haven't written for a while. After so many days of knitting, sewing and travelling let's check at least some of my ultimate projects (completed).

A couple of weeks ago we have participated in the celebrating of our friends' wedding. Those who follow my notes can see that it took me a little bit of time to prepare for  it. At first it started with completely different idea - check Sewing plans. .  Then I've changed my mind, like always, and the process went on (look Agenda... a kind of.).

The modifications made to the dress:

- I hade to make it much longer in order that the lower dress is longer just about 5 sm;

- I added the sleeves;

- no ruffles, instead I've crocheted a little bunch of flowers to match the hair accessories;

- I'm too meticulous, so I sewed the waistband by hand in order that the squares match each other.

And here we are:

For the cardigan I choose the famous pattern of Kim Hargreaves "Christina".  I used 4 strands of silk and 3 strands of fine cotton yarn.

Some details about my Little Chris:

- I omitted the first part of the pattern;
- used the usual cast-on;
- for the neckband and decoration I used the garter stitch and crochet.

I managed to find very nice buttons that match perfectly the pearl-like yarn and pattern, but, as you can see from the photos, after the washing the varnish has peeled off. It was really a pity, for now it seems a rather vintage detail, but for the next washing it would be better to unpick them.

Summer "space" set is ready...

Another (but not so appreciated, because "I wanted the skirt") present for my daughter  (see Summer top and trousers. ).
The fabric was rough, I knew it before starting, but I didn't expected the wings effect to this extent. It reminds me of the singers from the 80's and Star Track.  Made with mettalic fabric would be perfect for the Carnevale.

Belated presents

 Finally we have celebrated the birthday of my daughter, she was patient enough to expect some days more before receiving the presents. La canotta grigia and the red skirt made with some leftover fabrics (started here  Somebody, stop me, please! ):

Now we have almost the same skirts. Mine is from Burda Style 2/2003 (pattern 113).

Summarizing:

-  The underdress is ready;

- Christina cardigan is laid aside for a while, considering that it should be ready by September;

- I've almost finished the back of a very nice top from BIMBI speciale COTONE 2-6 I lavori feminili di Mani di Fata:

I like the pattern so much, it would be perfect for a scarf and a hat;

- Putting in order the fabrics I couldn't help sewing a wavy skirt for my daughter. It is red, long and has gathers and bow - surely she'll like it;

- I definitely need to sew bikini for my daughter (pattern 632 from Burda Baby 1/2012) and for me (pattern 108 from Burda Style June 2011):

- I would like to knit a top even for me, it will be Dèbardeur or Pull mancherons from Phildar 2009;

- Later, maybe, I'll have time for Monet di Martin Storey?

Agenda... a kind of.

I'm a little confused. I have so many projects on the needles and on the sewing table that I cannot find the best way to organize them in my blog, should I write down the one only after it has been completed or just follow the whole process? 

Ok, I'll make a list:

1) the summer set for my daughter is ready, I made some pics that don't convince me, it would be better to wait till the weather is good to make the pictures outside;

2) the vintage dress is completed for 50 %, I don't like the neckline, so I decided to cut the back and front parts in the middle and make the insertions of pleated fabric. It needs time and courage (to cut). That is why I decided to suspend this project and sew something "which doesn't need thinking too much";

3) so, I sewed another dress, very simple one, easy and fun to sew, pattern 133 from Burda Style Aprile 2011:

4) now I'm sewing the underdress as the fabric is rather trasparent, the pattern 121 from Burda Style May 2000;
5) the underdress for my daughter is almost completed (pattern 147 from Burda Style May 2012):

5) surely, then will go the wrap dress (pattern 143 from Burda Style May 2012):

6) I've started the Christina cardigan by Kim Heargraves, adapted for my daughter:

7) there are 8 squares completed for the bed throw;

8) there is a Marinara sweater for my daughter, which ought to be one of my first written patterns... I hope;

Summer top and trousers.

For some weeks I'm done with the knitting. Last Sunday I began to sew. This summer set is perfect for little girls, comfortable and practic trousers and dress like tunic top with frilly sleeves. So both mother and daughter are happy.

For the top I preferred this model, and the trousers are a little bit longer with side buttons. My little signorina is growing up. Simple elastic looks too baby-like.
