Now or never! II

19/02/2016 This sweater was started on March 24 2014. You can see my first steps in this post Now or never!
I always knit several projects at the same time so it took me two months (only!) to complete this project. It came out lovely, beautiful color 4314 (gray violet), I found a beautiful fabric to sew a skirt...

But there were some obstacles to wear it: I couldn't find the matching pin and couldn't complete the skirt as I was "very" pregnant.
For now my skirt looks this way. My attempt to repeat the style of 20's.

Now I'm slim again, I can do without a pin... but I don't have enough time to sew, so I revised my wardrobe and found this nice skirt and shoes and think that together they can go well.

I was convinced that the short and adherent vintage line wasn't made for me and used to add some positive ease and length to my vintage sweaters, but trying some of them I changed my opinion, so I'll undo the rib of this sweater, cut off the first two pattern repetitions and reknit the rib.
I think it could be a beautiful outfit for my birthday party.

There was an error made in the description of the jabot (at least in my copy of the book).
“Inc 1 st at each end of next and 13 following RS rows (54 sts)” should be: “Inc 1 st at each end and decrease 1 st at each beginning of next 13 following RS rows (54 rows)”.

27/04/2016 Finally I my daughter made some photos of me wearing this sweater. Still never presented in public, first time in this post.

A new vintage pattern...

Today I looked through the photos of April Burda magazine and was happy to find this beautiful dress pattern which reminds so much of 20s'. This pattern can be added to the collection of VIntage patterns from Burda., as well as to my sewing queue.
There are 3 versions, made of silk or linen, long or short, with or without a bow.
The most classic version would be the long silk one, with a bow on the neckline.

Dreams, dreams, dreams...

I've just finished watching the 5th season of the Downton Abbey series. And I fell in love with this yellow lace sweater Edith wearing in some scenes. This is one I should definitely knit next year. It's so simple and elegant, easy to knit but of a great effect. I think that Drops Lace Alpaca silk yarn would be perfect for this.

Cool Wool set.

A couple of weeks ago I've finished this set, based on one of the prettiest patterns of Ravelry by Ekaterina Blanchard - Cool Wool.

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cool-wool

I’m not sure what kind of yarn it is, it is waxed, and after washing becomes so smooth and light, that it can be even blended cashmir. I think some wool, viscosa, poliester, cashmir and angora mix. I used 4 threads.
I’ve adopted the pattern to my gauge 24stx10cm. So it turned out not to be so guick as the original. It is more spring then winter set, even if for Italian winter it is quite warm. Now I'm planning to knit another pair of similar sets with much more bulky Drops Andes (water-green 7130 and pale rose 4276). The only doubt is if 2 balls would be enough.

Still a lot to do, but the idea is already rather perceptible.  Later I'll write down the schematic explanation of what changes I've done to this pattern.

Vintage dress

The dress for me based on the pattern 116 from Burda Style 6/2012.

Cotton lower dress.

The fabric for the main part.

I prefer to make the upper part like a dress. And the lower dress will work like lining. In this case it's much more easier to sew, no need to make bindings along the armholes.

VIntage patterns from Burda.

Today I finished the main part of Cerisara cardigan. I like the result, even without the sleeves. Another effort, and i will be free do sew something. Inspired, I looked through my favorite patterns, and here is a small "20's" Burda Style collection.

April 2011

June 2012

This dress is really perfect - easy to sew, easy to wear, easy to combine. Here are 2  versions made with layers of lace and chiffon, and there are so many other possibilities.  For example, made with colored fabric or with knitted or crocheted upper top.

 July 2012

This dress is gorgeous. It has all the detailes I prefer - neck tie, short sleeves and godet inserts. I would only change the belt for an insertion or drapery of contrast fabric. Absolutely without the belt loops.

It looks so similar to the dress of Marion Cotillard in "Midnight in Paris". Very feminine still a little childish.

December 2011

Another rather simple pattern to experiment with.

February 2013

I like so much this dress, and I try not to look at those horrible shoes. They have nothing to do neither with the dress nor with the 20's style.

And here everything is perfect! The most important thing will be to choose the right lenght.
